Taking Care of Bellybear
o FOOD
o give her about a half of a cup of dry pellets every night (a little less…like a handful)
o she can have as much timothy hay as she wants, I usually give her a handful with her pellets and then some during the day if she seems restless
o she can have some treats but don’t overdo it, especially if they are the yogurt drops or sweet things
o she can have pretty much any fresh fruits or vegetables but be careful when introducing new ones to her diet (don’t give her too much at once), she should be used to carries, lettuce, celery, snow peas, apples, strawberries, and cantaloupe but anything else should be fine in small(ish) quantities
o WATER
o refill her water whenever it seems low, empty it out and rinse it then refill it (careful that the duck doesn’t fall down the drain!)
o BEDDING
o change her bedding about once a week or whenever it seems to need it most (green bag: Carefresh)
o LITTER
o change her little two to three times a week and refill the litter box with litter about an inch deep (orange bag: Yesterday’s News)
o SLEEP
o I usually feed her at night to keep her busy and also remove her water bottle because she tends to bang it against the side of the cage which can be quite annoying
o PLAY
o try to let her hop around out of the cage once in a while…she never has chewed wires or anything but I would keep an eye on her just in case
o she likes to be given “full bunny massages”…where you massage her back with your fingers, DO IT.
o NAILS
o her nails can be cut whenever they seem to be sharp (I did it every 6-8 weeks), I left bunny nail trimmers or you can use human nail clippers; it’s easiest if she sits on someone’s lap while another person GENTLY and CALMLY clips her nails, not too short though!!
o CUDDLE HER AND GIVE HER LOTS OF TLC BECAUSE SHE PROBABLY MISSES ME TERRIBLY
